U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) today released the following statement on the College Football Playoff today selecting Arizona to host the 2016 College Football National Championship Game, set for January 11, 2016 at Glendale's University of Phoenix Stadium:

"Today is a great day for the State of Arizona. The College Football Playoff's decision to select Glendale to host the 2016 National Championship Game reconfirms Arizona's status among the premier sports and entertainment destinations in America.

"I have had the privilege of serving as Honorary Chair of the Arizona College Football Championship Game Host Committee, whose members -- including state and local elected officials and business leaders -- have led the way in supporting our state's bid to bring this game to Glendale. Today's decision is a testament to the enduring attraction of Arizona, its people and its natural beauty, and the commitment our public and private sectors have to working together to produce world-class events."
